The poster list the seven principles of Kwanzaa ( founded by Dr. Maulana Karenga), or Nguzo Saba (originally Nguzu Saba- the seven principles of African Heritage): Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self - Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Co-operative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kumba (Creativity), Imani (Faith).
This a museum quality archive that has great significance in American history and the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements. You can't recount the history of the black Power Movement without including the US Organization.
This is a very hard to find piece of ephemera. It tells a great story about the US Organization and it's ties to John and Ericka Huggins, Bunchy Carter, Amiri Baraka, and the Black Panther Party.
Shout out to Chicago, Kwanzaa and Black excellence.
