    About this vehicle
This 1987 Oldsmobile Toronado is an original. This is offered for sale by the original owner. The vehicle is drivable and is mainly used for weekend drives.
    Vehicle Details
-This is a well preserved 1987 Oldsmobile Toronado. The seller has owned for 34 years. Finished in stunning garnet red metallic paint, and red leather interior. This car has always been garaged and meticulously maintained over the years. The body is near perfect, not showing any signs of rust or corrosion in the common areas around the wheels or rockers. Typically driven on vacations and to the office on nicer days. The interior has seen minimal usage and is 100% original. 135,000 miles.
-The fourth generation Toronado introduced in 1986, was made in Lansing Michigan, and paid homage to the Tornados from the 60’s with its high-tech styling and front wheel drive. The Toronado was the flagship luxury coupe for Oldsmobile. Objectively speaking, it offered better performance, increased fuel economy, better aerodynamics, and greater space efficiency than its predecessor. Contemporary, understated styling, with enough trunk room for two sets of golf clubs. The Toronado was a car with enough prestige to fit right in at the country club, yet not so much that it wouldn’t look out of place at a hardware store.
    -Exterior-
-Oldsmobile’s E-body coupe featured a flush black grille, and flip-up concealed headlights for a full-width effect. Mostly black or body colored trim, with thin chrome found throughout. Aerodynamic ground effects and full-width taillight lenses give it a sleek low look. Power Antenna on the rear is a nice touch. Door hinges are tight, and the door/hood/trunk gaps all look exceptional. This body style with the short trunk was only offered for three years 86-89.
    -Paint-
-8979 medium garnet red metallic is the iconic color for this car, as seen on many of the era advertisements. For its age the original paint has weathered very well, there is some light scratching from years of hand washing and waxing. These could be removed with a professional wool buff job. I would like to note minor paint chips. Pictures included in the gallery of the door edges, door handles, front fender tops, and one small dent above the driver’s door handle. The front fenders, rear quarters and hood have been sanded and re-painted due to the clear-coat pealing and fading.
-Carfax will report an accident in 2015. This was a minor rear bumper bruise at an intersection. The inside of both rear quarter panels will attest to this, as they are original and unworked. The bumper cover and molding were replaced with originals sourced from a salvage yard. Only one energy absorbing bumper mount needed to be replaced.
    -Length- 187.5”
    -Width- 70.8”
    -Wheel base- 108”
    -Height- 53”
    -Weight- 3364lbs
    -Fuel capacity- 18 gallons
    -3.8 liter V6 140hp
    -0-60mph 11.6 seconds
-19 miles per gallon city, 30mpg highway
    -Interior-
-Optional digital dash and “basket handle” gear shifter. Thickly bolstered red leather bucket seats are 6-way adjustable, and a very driver-focused interior. Sport console with change holder and cassette storage were only offered with the bucket seats. Original loop carpet and headliner show minimal damage from sun/dirt/cleaning. Red is notorious for fading. Original floor mats too. The only flaw on the interior would be a ¾”long rip on the bottom face of the rear seat. You can see it in the gallery noted with red tape.
    -Adjustable steering column.
    -Delco digital am/fm radio/cassette with 4 speakers
    -Lighted push button controls.
    -Drivetrain-
-LG2 3.8L (231cu/in) Buick v6 w/counter balance shaft to smooth out engine vibrations.
    -140 hp (104 kW) at 4,400 rpm, 200 lb⋅ft (271 N⋅m) at 2,000 rpm.
    -Sequential port fuel injection.
    -Coil pack wasted spark ignition.
-4T60-E 4 speed automatic with overdrive.
-The engine and transmission are original to the car and number matching.
-Recent services include rebuilding both heads/valves/seats and timing chain at 119,700 miles in April 2018. Spark plugs, tensioner, pushrods, head bolts, and gaskets all done at this time as well.
    -New Alternator at 130,000
-As mentioned earlier, the car has been meticulously maintained. Oil changed every 3,000 miles (or less) Transmission flushes ect. ect. A file full of documents from 1988 to present are included with the sale.
    -Undercarriage-
    -Galvanized body
-Wheels 15” x 5.5” optional aluminum, as commonly found on the Trofeo coupe.
-New 215/60/R15 tires in July 2020, show minimal wear.
    -4 wheel power disc brakes
-Macphearson strut suspension on all 4 corners.
    -Electronic load leveling FE3 suspension.
-Judging from the Pictures in the gallery, you can see the factory applied paint on the suspension and undercoating on the chassis. Minimal surface rust due to the dry high desert climate found in Colorado. Nothing has been covered up.
