Description
Jim Morrison’s very rare self-published folio of poemsThe Lords: Notes On Vision
. Morrison published
The Lords
in an edition of 100 in early 1969. Printed in Los Angeles at Western Lithographers, Morrison gave these out one-at-a-time to friends and acquaintances
The navy blue folio with gold stamping is printed on textured heavy card stock, with a string closure on the back. It contains 82 sheets, each with a poem by Morrison. Morrison intentionally left the pages unnumbered, so the reader could rearrange them in any order they wished. In 1970, Simon & Schuster combined these poems with those from Morrison’s second self-published collection,
The New Creatures
, in a mass-market collection titled
The Lords & The New Creatures
. This original version, however, contains three poems not included in the commercial edition.
The folio is in very good condition with the usual light wear around the edges. The 82 sheets are in mint condition. In November 2020 a similar copy sold at auction for ,725.
8 3/4″ x 11 3/4″.
