Oh my goodness you fellow DOORS (Jim Morrison) fanatics! First time EVER available for sale, just pulled out of the safe it's been in for 54 years... It's the FIRST audience reel to reel MASTER TAPE that was recorded at the L.A. Forum DOORS concert, December 14th, 1968!
Recorded by myself and a friend, this tape was copied by a person in the 1970's, after Jim Morrison died and there was virtually little interest in The Doors (trust me on that...). It was leaked and traded for the next 25 years or more, and for that time, I believe it was the ONLY sourced tape out there of this cool show. A few more tape sources were later available. But this tape has NEVER been heard in the quality it's in! No digital copies were ever made of this. The cassette copies out there aren't too bad though, but it won't get better than this tape! When I'm gone, my family will toss this out. Thus, I'm selling it now! And
remember, the quality is NOT that great to begin with...
A bit about this tape to the best of my recollection: It's on a 5 inch reel. Unheard for at least 25 years now, I can't check it for quality. I ASSUME the tape plays as fine as the day I recorded it. But can't be 100% sure. These old tapes usually held up pretty well. It was done on a cheap portable tape recorder with a cheap microphone. It is one channel only! As I recall, it is pretty bassy and "boomie"... A few of the songs were cut. I think "Love Me Two Times" has the opening seconds of the song cut. But just a second or 2. Light My Fire had some dropouts, maybe 15 seconds, of the beginning of the organ lead I believe. And we recorded over the whole Celebration Of The Lizard, so that's missing. There may be a few other missing bits, but they were minor I think. That's 100% the best of my recollection.
